A broken broiler element or failed electronic oven control board could prevent the broiler from working in an electric range. They are all shipped with the regulator in the on position but if jarred or bumped during installation it can spring back to the off position. If the oven is not working but the burners do check the following. If power seems to be working to the range and the range lockout clock blackout or other features are not active and the clock and controls still do not work reset the oven.

If an oven bakes but won t broil the problem could be the broiler burner igniter or the electronic oven control board in a gas oven. Make sure that the oven controls are set correctly for either bake or broil. On new gas range installations make sure the range s main gas regulator on the range is set in the on position. I have ge xl44 model jgbp34gep and was working fine but on one fine day i decided to experiment with stop time and cook time and all of a suddent the bake function does not work.

If this does not resolve the issue contact ge for service. On self clean ranges check the oven door to make sure it is in the unlocked position.
